3 Things that I Achieved this Week
1: I was able to successfully begin work on my GIS map by adding 1870 county boundaries, added the location of Freedmen's Bureau offices , and other technical aspects.
2: I was able to create a 3D model and was able to port it to my website in an interactive manner.
3: I was able to compile all my data, which is comprised of my letters and the locations of the Freedmen's Bureau offices, in a form to where I can use it to create my GIS map.
3 Things I Struggled with this Week
1: I struggled to implement my letters into my GIS map into a form that can provide useful data.
2: I struggled to come up with the results part of my paper because I was not able to fully complete my GIS map this week
3: I am currently struggling of ways to present my data onto my GIS map that will produce a readable yet informative map.
3 Things I Learned this Week
1: I learned how to make a 3D model and how to export it to HTML websites to produce an interactable 3D model.
2: I learned how material culture can be digitized to better preserve it and to allow for more educational opportunities.
3: I saw the "Freedom Trail" and learned about the history of the Civil Rights Movement and Freedom Summer in Hattiesburg.
The Next Step for my Research
I need to complete my GIS map with the location data of my letters, so I can start to work on the conclusion part of my paper because I intend to use my map as the crux of my paper.
