3 Things I Accomplished this Week:
1: I was able to write my introduction which borrowed aspects and information from my thesis, letters, and secondary sources.
2: I was able to use my introduction to both refine my thesis and research questions, as well as to provide me with an outline of my paper.
3: We this week's GIS session, I am starting to feel more comfortable using GIS to add an interesting mapping feature to my project.
3 Things I Struggled with this Week:
1: Since my topic covers such a large and inclusive topic such as the Freedmen's Bureau, I am struggling to sort through all of the letters that my topic has.
2: I have never made such an in-depth introduction for a paper before, so putting my introduction together this week was certainty learning experience for me.
3: I initially struggled to make the letter metadata for my letters since I didn't use the tags excel sheet to find my letters, so I had to find all of my existing letters within the excel sheet.
3 Things that I Learned this Week:
1: I learned how to make a proper introduction for a research project that gives a more holistic look on all of the details of the research process.
2: I learned how images are digitized and how metadata is created for them, which is interesting to me because process of digitizing an image is far different from the process of digitizing a document.
3: I learned about all of the different ways in which photographs were historically taken, and how to preserve each type of photo.
Next Step of my Research Project:
The next step of my research project is to finish sorting through all of the letters under my topic, so that I can create an initial GIS map to see how I want to approach the map for my presentation.
